Norman Shutters

Norman Shutters

Not just any shutter, they are custom, hand-crafted furniture for your windows.  There is so much to love about the Norman shutters.  We especially like the InvisibleTilt.  The gear driven tilting mechanism is built into each stile, and therefore not seen.  The louvers tile flawlessly with precision tight control.  Not only are the shutters beautiful but the mortise and tendon joints help to keep your shutters withstand decades of shear stress and racking forces.

Norman Ultra

The Norman Ultra is Norman’s flagship shutter. Ultra is made from 100% super-premium selected hardwood sourced from multiple tree species, taking the best part of each type of tree.  With 30% more wood, Ultra is bigger, stronger, and more robust.  Ultra is constructed with the thickest and most robust stiles and rails in the world, the heftiest hinges, and the most colors, finishes and special options on the planet.

Normandy

Norman’s Normandy shutter is made from solid real Paulownia hardwood that is sustainably farmed and harvested.  Norman manages their own forests, thereby maintaining control from the seedling to the full grown tree.  The result?  Much more consistent wood with much less waste.  The Paulownia tree exhibits one of the best strength to weight rations among all wood types for shutters.  Quarter sawing the louvers also results in a tighter grain making the louvers resistant to cupping, twisting, and warping.

Woodlore Plus

The Woodlore Plus is a hybrid shutter utilizing light weight ABS, a polymer, for its louvers.  The louvers are modeled after aeronautical designs and are reinforced by an intricate hidden structural support system.  The shutter’s frames and rails are composed of structured composite wood.  Together this combination allows for wider panels (up to 36-inches across), more color choices, and a waterproof option.  Do you have a specialty shape window?  The Woodlore Plus shutters can be made for specialty shaped windows.

Woodlore

The Woodlore line of Norman’s shutters uses an engineered wood composite core with an exclusive medical-grade polypropylene coating that contains a UV inhibitor.   It provides extra protection against scratching, chipping, cracking, yellowing, fading, staining, and heat damage while outperforming  vinyl and PVC.  Polypropylene is used in kids’ toys and food packaging.  The material is a proven favorite due to its stability and safety.

DayNite

A single compact corded honeycomb shade is installed to a batten behind the shutter frame to provide the ultimate dimming effect, energy efficiency and noise dampening.   Honeycombs window coverings are often used when insulation is desired at the window opening as they have the tightest fits in between your window sills.  Trapped air in the honeycomb cells provides the insulation.  Used together, the normal light seeping into the room between the louvers is as close to eliminating light as you can get.
