Verticals

There are many more options for vertical window coverings today.  Of course we have a wide variety of traditional vertical window coverings that have more appealing textures, more robust holding and sliding mechanisms, and easy to clean options that also look beautiful.   Sliding glass doors have always seemed to pose some challenges from a window covering point of view and we’ve seen a lot of creative solutions over the years.  Luckily, different solutions for sliding doors are becoming more main stream.  A few of our favorite options are included here.  Don’t see what you like?  Give us a call.  We will be happy to take a look at your project and toss around a few ideas that reflect your style and budget.

 Hunter Douglas Vertiglide

The Vertiglide is a honeycomb shade rotated 90 degrees and made to install on a sliding door.  It uses the same fabrics as your horizontal honeycomb shades, either Applause or Duette.  When used in combination with the honeycomb shades, the result is a consistent well planned design space that is also very functional, with classic clean lines complimenting any décor style.  Use one shade to cover the entire expanse of a sliding door, or, cover the door with a split stack Vertiglide shade, with each side operating independently of each other.   You’ve got choices.

Skyline Roller Panels

One option is a product known as skyline roller panels.  The panels slide past each other as you open or close your shades.  It is an excellent option for covering the increasingly popular 4 panel sliding glass doors and extra wide windows.

Roller Shades

Your sliding glass door may be treated just like a window.  Roller shades can be mounted inside of the window casing or above the window.  Here the image shows the Hunter Douglas Designer Screen Shades, although either the Screen Shades or the Fabric Shades will work.  It operates just as a roller shade in a standard window.

Luminette Privacy Sheers

Luminette Privacy Sheers stop glaring light from entering through large panes of glass and really soften the light in your living space.  The vanes are fabric between layers of sheer material similar to the Silhouette.  You have all of the control of vertical vanes with the softness of sheer fabric.  When the sheers are closed, the SofTrakTM hardware system is concealed within the headrail for an elegant look.

Norman SmartDrapeTM

The  SmartDrapeTM is constructed from a series of fabric vanes in either light filtering or room darkening fabrics. We love how you can walk through these window coverings even while the shade is closed.  The vanes are also removable and can be washed if placed in a laundry mesh bag.

Vertical Vanes

Of course, we have the classic vertical vanes commonly seen on sliding glass doors.   There are also many new textures, S-Curve vanes, and even fabrics that greatly expand and elevate the options in this category.  We’re pretty picky about the vertical vanes that we use.  Sliding glass doors often get a lot of use and we want your vanes to stay in place with trouble-free operation year after year.
